Netconnect 2021 was a virtual event with a clever, space-themed ambiance, designed to engage attendees and emphasise the organiser’s brand.
Netchex is an HR and payroll management software provider. The company organizes an annual conference, Netconnect. Last year, to reinforce its industry leadership and its brand identity built around being user-friendly and providing out-of-this-world customer service the event’s theme was space-inspired.
The theme featured a networking channel named “Milky Way Cafe”, virtual escape rooms available throughout the event, as well as imagery and language that evoked a sense of community and a need for teamwork in order to reach common goals. By using the analogy of going to space, which is a huge enterprise, Netchex didn’t want their customers to feel alone in their mission.
For the purpose of the conference, a sci-fi space-themed promotional video was created to attract registrants and guide them through the Virtual EventHub. Every attendee had the chance to win rewards such as a telescope, a day trip to the Space Center Houston, astronaut cameo videos, and a galaxy projector. Custom-built space virtual backgrounds were present for attendees to download and use when networking and social sharing. Even the conference membership levels and badges were aligned with space terminology (e.g., Moon, Mars, Milky Way, etc.).
The event resulted in 1000+ registrants, $133,000+ in generated ROI, 5000+ acts of advocacy completed, 39 net-new referenceable customers, 8 client referrals, 3 video testimonials collected.
